In January 2006 pro-choice officials took over the offices of Attorney General, Secretary of State, State Treasurer and Governor, and NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio began the hard work turning our state around so that we live in an environment which helps women prevent unintended pregnancies and increases their access to reproductive health care, rather than restricting it.

Just in the last 18 months Governor Strickland vetoed “abstinence-only” funding in the state budget and refused to apply for Bush’s federal “abstinence-only” funding (we are one of only 17 states to do this).

This past November, after intense pressure from activists, the Ohio Department of Education reversed its decision to refuse $1.25 million in federal funds to provide HIV/AIDS prevention programs for Ohio teens. People working for the Ohio Department of Education called coalition groups and told them to “call off the dogs” because our activists sent enough emails to overwhelm their system!

These victories would not be possible without your help. But we need your contunued support to keep the victories coming.
