NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Open Letter to Governor Sarah Palin
Cleveland, OH - NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio, the state’s leading advocate for personal privacy and a woman’s right to choose, is issuing an open letter to Governor Sarah Palin, who will be in Ohio tomorrow and Saturday raising funds for Ohio Right to Life and other anti-choice organizations. NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio is sending this letter, along with comments and “crib notes” from many of its members to Palin via Ohio Right to Life. Many of these “crib Notes” can be viewed at www.tiny.cc/HandItToPalin. During the month leading up to Palin’s Ohio appearances, pro-choice Ohioans donated $8,281.00 to protect reproductive rights in Ohio in Palin’s name. Dear Governor Palin, In the past you have spoken candidly about the thoughts and feelings you experienced when faced with your unplanned pregnancy. You bravely confessed to America that you had mixed feelings and that after thoughtful reflection about your values, you decided to carry your pregnancy to term. When I have heard you tell your story, my heart has gone out to you and your family. It is clear from the way you passionately talk about your experience, that the decision making process was critically important to you, that making the decision to continue your pregnancy helped you prepare for the challenges you would face in raising a special needs child. You clearly felt empowered and qualified to make your decision. That’s why I am puzzled about why you are working so hard to raise funds for organizations and candidates that are working to outlaw abortion. Outlawing abortion would strip other American woman of the ability to make the same critical decisions about their family, their future and their health that you did. I trust women. They are wise, they are strong and they are loving. God has given them every tool they need to make good decisions for themselves and their families. I wish you believed in the ability of other women to make their own thoughtful decisions, just as you did. Sincerely, Kellie Copeland Executive Director
