Socioeconomics influence pregnancy decisions
Regina Brett's Dec. 26 column, "Another crisis, another miracle," did a great disservice to women, especially low-income women, by oversimplifying and sentimentalizing the very serious and complicated issue of unplanned pregnancy. In her story, the young woman facing an unplanned pregnancy comes from a loving, supportive family who celebrated her decision to have her child. Her brother is a corporate attorney, so it's safe to assume that she has economic support as well. She is a very lucky young woman, and her situation is indeed miraculous.
