Read the 2004 Access to Emergency Contraception in Ohio's Emergency Rooms Report
Sadly in 2004 when the NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Foundation called hospital emergency rooms across the state we were told over and over again that women cannot access Emergency Contraception (EC) also known as the "morning after pill" in their emergency room. Read the report to find out just how grim the picture is here in Ohio.
Imagine you are a woman who has just experienced a sexual assault. Or the condom broke. Or you forgot to take your pill. Or you got caught up in the heat of the moment and did not use protection. You know that if you take emergency contraception (EC) within the next 72 hours, you can prevent a pregnancy you are not ready for. But when you call your local emergency room (ER), this is what you're told:
"No we do not, we don't do that here."
Sadly, this is what the NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Foundation discovered in 2004 happening in emergency rooms all over the state.
