In Our State
Last November, for the first time in 16 years, Ohio elected a pro-choice governor as well as a pro-choice attorney general, secretary of state and treasurer. Now four of the five state-wide elected officials are pro-choice! Unfortunately we did not make the same gains in the Ohio Legislature. The Ohio House and Senate are still overwhelmingly controlled by anti-choice legislators. We hope we can work with the newly elected state-wide officials and members of the legislature on common ground, commonsense policies that will increase access to reproductive health services, while stopping divisive attacks on a woman’s right to choose. But we need you help to reach our goals. We already know that the sponsor of last year's proposed abortion ban (Rep. Tom Brinkman, R-Cincinnati) is planning to reintroduce the ban during this legislative session. We are laying the groundwork to introduce pro-choice and pro-prevention legislation but we need your help. Please sign up to volunteer, attend lobby day , donate or simply take a few minutes to write or call your legislators to make sure that they hear our pro-choice voices. You played a critical role in the victories that we won in 2006 and you are crucial to our continued success. Please get involved today! |
