Say no to Abstinence-only-until-marriage funding
When he released his budget proposal in March, Governor Ted Strickland removed tax-payer funding for unproven abstinence-only-until-marriage programs. Like the majority of Ohioans, Governor Strickland believes that our students deserve comprehensive and honest sex education in their schools. A recently released poll by Quinnipiac University showed that 71% of Ohioans support an "abstinence-plus" comprehensive approach to sex education for our young people. And a majority supported Gov. Strickland's proposal to remove funding for abstinence-only-until-marriage programs. Unfortunately our state legislature is again putting extreme conservative politics before the well-being of citizens of our state. The Ohio House added the funding for abstinence-only-until-marriage programs back into the budget when they approved it last month. Now the fight has moved to the Senate. We need you to email your senator today and tell him or her that your tax dollars should not be used on unproven and unpopular abstinence-only-until-marriage-programs.
