Tell the FDA to approve Emergency Contraception for over-the-counter use.
On August 26th the FDA again delayed its decision on over-the-counter status of Emergency Contraceptives. In May 2004 Bush's FDA ignored the overwhelming medical evidence on the safety and effectiveness of EC and did not approve it for use over-the-counter. Now the FDA has again broken a promise to the American people that they will rule on this by September 1st. Make sure your voice is heard and tell the FDA to approve EC over the counter without further delay! EC is an important drug and increased availability will mean that thousands of pregnancies can be avoided each year. It is also an important part of treating sexual assault survivors, allowing them to prevent the possibility of pregnancy following their attack. A recent survey by NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio showed that only 2 hospital emergency rooms in Ohio give EC to women regardless of why they are asking for it. Over-the-counter access to EC is critical to women in Ohio. Take Action Today!
