On the evening of December 1, lawmakers on Ohio's House Transportation Committee quietly amended an otherwise innocuous highway-naming bill to create "Choose Life" license plates in Ohio. The plates are designed to raise money to fund anti-choice crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs). Funds raised would not be available to any organization that provides women with unbiased counseling or referrals for abortion services. Please contact your state representative and let him or her know that you oppose the amended version of S.B. 156. This bill could be voted on in the House as soon as this Tuesday, December 7, so please act now! If the House passes the amended version of S.B. 156, the bill will be sent back to the Senate so that Senators can decide whether or not to keep the House amendments. After you contact your state representative, please contact your state senator to ask that he or she oppose the House amendments.
