NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio is dedicated to building and sustaining a constituency that uses the political process to guarantee access to reproductive healthcare for every Ohioan, including preventive care, family planning, sexuality education, prenatal and postnatal health care, and safe, legal abortion. NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio is a grass-roots 501(c)(4) advocacy organization. Two additional affiliated organizations help advance NARAL Pro-Choice Ohioís mission. The NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio Foundation conducts public education and research intended to increase public awareness of relevant reproductive health care issues.The NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio PAC is a political action committee that conducts direct electoral work with and for pro-choice candidates.
NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio seeks an energetic, strategic, and innovative person to serve as its Field and Political Director.The Field and Political Director is responsible for overseeing field and electoral operations, program implementation and management, and supervision of regional field organizers based in Columbus and Cleveland. The Field and Political Director works directly with the Deputy Director to create, manage, and execute a comprehensive field and political plan.
Write and implement a comprehensive, data-driven field plan
Manage a field team to execute comprehensive field plan
Set, meet, and exceed benchmarks for activist engagement, volunteer recruitment, and voter education and outreach
Optimize and implement best practices for data management
Establish a strong professional culture within the field organization focused on accountability and specific goals, while at the same time fostering individual and organizational innovation and sense of purpose
Assist organizers with recruitment, selection, and supervision of interns.
Represent the organization in coalitions across the state
Coordinate field organizing with fundraising operations
Coordinate with other staff to manage the field program budget and logistics and ensure cohesive execution of priority programming
Represent and promote NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio at local, regional, statewide, and national gatherings
Other duties as needed
Ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and skills:
Strong commitment to reproductive rights and justice
At least seven years of organizing experience, at least one year/election cycle working for a state-wide campaign
At least three years managing a field/organizing program including managing staff/interns
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including oral presentations to groups of varying sizes
Self-motivated and able to adapt to swiftly changing dynamics
Working knowledge of political and electoral environment of Ohio
Demonstrated ability to organize in diverse communities and work within a coalition
Superior work ethic
Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, and think strategically
Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically to build positive relationships with coalition partners, candidates, elected officials, staff, volunteers, board members, and NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio members
Mastery of Microsoft Office suite
Extensive experience with and the ability to train on the Voter File (VAN) and EveryAction (NGPVAN) database/outreach program
Mastery of social media platforms (including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)
Bachelorís Degree or equivalent experience
Must have reliable transportation, current auto insurance and valid driverís license

NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio's Programs

Builds the grassroots pro-choice movement in Ohio
Educates the public about reproductive rights issues
Helps to elect pro-choice legislators and pass pro-choice legislation through candidate training, voter mobilization, and lobbying
All interns are expected to:
Supervise and participate in phone banks, mailings, and outreach events
Work on research and writing projects
Assist staff with administrative tasks

This internship consists of assisting NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio's development associate in the following tasks:
Data entry, filing, and office management
Ensuring our donors receive thank-you notes and receipts
Working with a committee to plan and carry out NARAL events
General assistance in fund raising
We would like this intern to be available at least 15 hours a week, over 2 - 3 days. Ideally, this intern candidate will be based out of the Cleveland office.
In this internship, you will:
Work to inform the public about NARAL's work
Identify events with progressive audiences and attend to represent NARAL, gain petition signatures, and give out membership information
Recruit and train volunteers to help with mailings and phonebanks
Work on our Foundation's newsletter, The Voice of Choice
Assist in the development and maintenance of pro-choice campus groups
Familiarity with InDesign is preferred. We need this intern candidate to be available some evenings and weekends in order to represent us at events.
This internship consists of assisting NARAL Pro-Choice Ohio's policy director in the following tasks:
Monitoring legislative activity and drafting action alerts for supporters
Researching and writing reports on pro- and anti-choice legislation
Interacting with pro-choice partners on strategies and lobby day planning
Track media coverage of pro- and anti-choice legislation
Ideally, this intern candidate will be based out of the Columbus office.
